作品賞析
The “Tiger Lord” is the representative of the mountain god in folk belief and also serves as the god’s mount. In temples, you can often see the Tiger Lord placed in a small shrine, from where he is supposed to protect all living beings. Artist Tsai Wei-Ting believes that every moment in daily life is like an episode in a story plot. Once when he looked at the Tiger Lord, a thought suddenly came to him: “Will the Tiger Lord ever become homesick?” So he painted this work. He placed the Tiger Lord in a space surrounded by plants, trying to make the Tiger Lord in the city feel like he was in the mountains and jungles again. The dark background symbolizes the starry sky, and the plants in the pots look like stars shining in the sky. A common element in Tsai Wei-Ting’s works is the fortuniana rose , looking like a bright moon hanging high in the sky. The gods are always listening to the wishes of all beings, but in the scene carefully planned by the artist, Lord Tiger’s voice is finally heard.
