作品賞析
Landscape-1 depicts a scene that the artist Yu Ya-Lan saw when she first traveled to Finland. In the picture, you can see spectrum-like colors extending into the distance. The light of the Northern midnight sun, reflected on the plants and the snow-covered ground presented a kind of lighting and shadow that she had never seen before. This work is inspired by casual snapshots that she took of the landscape. She used the skyline to show the atmosphere of the high sky and broad earth, and then used white and bluish-green oil pastel to depict the fluid iridescent light as she remembered it, highlighted against the white snow. She believes that when people look at the environment, they often connect it with past experiences, and that this interactive process forms their own realities, which will inevitably diverge from objective reality—but it is precisely this that gives us room for free interpretation. Therefore, in Yu Ya-Lan’s creations in the past few years, she has focused on how to objectively present scenes while pulling back her own emotions and boldly experimenting with the colors and the various possibilities of light, shade, and material.
