作品賞析
The artist Hu Chao-Tsung’s Becoming a Place to Be – 2 juxtaposes two paintings, one indoors and one outdoors, to explore how “space” becomes a “place.” He defines a “place” as a space infused with meaning; new viewing angles and memory points are formed for it. There are all kinds of techniques for intervening in a place, and the two completely kinds of “places” in the natural environment and the city are constantly affected by human development behaviors: on the one hand, fences are erected around construction projects to keep nature outside, but on the other hand, plants are placed indoors in order to connect with nature. On the right side of this painting, the blue steel fence restricts plant growth and blocks pedestrians from getting close to nature. The various intervention methods have altered the existence of “places” and blurred the boundaries between public and private areas.
