HU Chau-Tsung’s acrylic work Channel is a landscape portraying a constructed and straight road heading to an unknown destination. It seems that another intersection exists beyond the lawn as an ephemeral outline of an elevated bridge. The abutments of the bridge have been transformed into sea water, while the road signs have been converted into landscape paintings featuring a whale’s tail emerging from the ocean surface. HU Chau-Tsung’s artworks create an intermingled space of natural environments and artificial construction, providing a surreal world that conveys his desire to answer the call of nature, appreciate its grandeur, and contemplate upon the coexistence of people and nature.
