Artist Lee Ming-Hsing works mainly in photography, recording certain moments and scenes through the lens to express his emotions about people and things. Confinement includes two photographs. One was taken in a dimly lit room, in which one can see the outside world only vaguely through a small window. However, what you can see is only part of a large tree, so that you cannot see the entire scene outside.The other photograph shows a roadside wall, painted with a mural realistically depicting a furrowed field and a field planted with vegetables, so that at first glance one cannot tell immediately if it is a real scene or not. Through these two photos, the artist explains that when people are trapped in a certain set of values or system, it is like being trapped in a small space, confined to a false reality. Only by “going out bravely” and crossing many barriers can you truly know yourself and have a real inner dialogue.
