Leland Lee, who works in the tech industry, likes to record people’s relationship with the world through the lens of photography. In recent years, he has begun to experiment with drone photography from a fascination with city landscapes from the bird’s-eye perspective, by which one can trace people’s city lives from a different angle. Over Look – 4 was taken directly above the playground of Daguan Elementary School in New Taipei City. This playground was designed with two long, twisting slides using the slope of the courtyard garden, and its colors form a strong contrast with the bright red rooftop of the school building around it. The most eye-catching features are the roof, the rainbow colors of the straight slides, the two colorful 15-meter-long twisting slides, and the black-and-white piano keyboard pattern of paving tiles below. Leland Lee pursues the aesthetics of symmetry in the composition, with interesting lines and bright colors, to construct an ideal world with a sense of rules and order.
