作品賞析
Artist Wang Ming-Ren’s creative inspiration often comes through travel. The scene in his Garden of Eden is from the Gallery of Paleontology and Comparative Anatomy, in Paris’s National Museum of Natural History. He recalls, “The museum displays thousands of animal skeletons. The large size of some of the animals is beyond imagination. When there, one senses the power of the Creator, as well as the insignificance of humankind.” All of the mounted skeletons in the picture are moving in the same direction, as if under the influence of an inner driving force. Wang uses retro and old tones to interpret this ancient space. He uses not only ink and glue, but also lacquer, eye shadow, blush, lipstick, and other cosmetics in order to create a dazzling pearlescent effect for interpreting the golden age of species diversity. The texture is bright and glossy, the brushwork fluid. The elaborate, decorative style can be said to reflect his admiration for the diversity of animal species on display.
