SUNG Hsi-Te deals with cold and rational metal media, hosting a feast of shapes. Little Island Series-Canine Tooth stresses a texture that is occasionally formed by steel due to high temperature which corresponds to nature's awe-inspiring work, it shapes the steep peaks, caves, terrain, texture, and the sense of the rock. The base is made of mirror-reflecting stainless steel, which makes this vicissitudinous primitive island seem like it’s sitting still on the calm water. Steel is not a material that traditional eastern art would use, SUNG Hsi-Te forges the spirit of Shan Shui in its coldness, thus embodying eastern philosophy in the work.
