作品賞析
HWANG Yue-Sheng is a student of LIAO Hsiu-Ping and is dedicated to printmaking. He is one of the members of Taiwan's "Ten Youths Print Painting" and continues to promote printmaking and cultivate printmakers in the field of education. The work, To be and not to be (18), is a series of creations based on “mezzotint”. He reproduces the space he used to be in when he worked. In the picture, there is a tightly structured iron window, symbolizing that the artist places himself in a safe but isolated and alienated space. The items placed around are traces and evidence of the artist’s being here. Using the symbolism and metaphor, HWANG Yue-Sheng tries to explore the meanings of "hidden" and "absence" in order to ponder the philosophical subject of "nothingness" and "being".
