HSIAO Cho-Yu is interested in the characteristic of liquid through the medium of ink. He vividly presents the variability of ink, showing the vitality and energy of life. In the work, The Face of the Era, the straight-screen picture has the penetration and flow of the ink on one side, showing a thick ink with random flow; while on the other side, the regular ink dots show the scattered but sometimes densely repeated dots. The yellow color is embellished within and is particularly bright under the black and white colors. “The face” interprets roles and personalities. HSIAO Cho-Yu uses contrasts such as black and white, movement and stillness, and order and irregularity to demonstrate the face and mark of the era under the influence of "time" and "environment".
