作品賞析
WANG Chih-Wen takes sculpture as his main form of creation. The subjects are mostly real human bodies, and the medium is gradually changed from clay sculpture from the early days to wood carving. He is able to create a sense of clay sculpture through the carving of wood, exhibiting a unique texture that is different traditional wood carving. In his work, Guo Lao Chu Jiu, the child wearing suspenders turns into Zhang Guo Lao from a folklore called The Eight Immortals. However, Zhang Guo Lao’s donkey becomes a Rody, and the fly whisk on his hand becomes a mop and a spray bottle. The child’s body is positioned in a state of laziness and unbalance. WANG Chih-Wen inverts the conservative imagination of the mythical figure Eight Immortals through harmony and parody. In addition to the superb techniques, capturing the child's innocent expression also conveys his love for life.
