WANG Chih-Wen believes that the aesthetic experience of the human form is an endless pursuit of boundless depth. His sculptures thus focus on the human body and are created using different materials and in different forms to explore the changing contours and shapes of the human physique. “Merging” is a spatial interpretation of the beauty of symmetry in the human form. A vertical line bisects the work into a hollowed half and a protruding half, forming a left-right contrast of light and shadow. The bronze used in the artwork helps to portray the smooth, bright, and skin-like tone of a curvaceous female form. WANG Chih-Wen’s works not only provide a singular, realistic focus on the human body, but also integrates his efforts of exploring spatial and material concepts in an effort to unearth the richness of the physical form.
