HU Kun-Jung has been focusing on the presentation of geometric and abstract art for many years. He uses color, space, and structure as basic elements to form conceptual minimalist assemblages. Orange Belt is part of the artist’s Two Butterflies series. Various types of flat-colored four-sided shapes are connected together, transforming the isolated blocks into an integrated shape. The two-dimensional canvas thus provides interesting visual interactions. Gray is used as the main color theme of the work to generate a somber and steady rhythm of activity across the entire canvas. HU Kun-Jung uses pure colors and forms to create a boundless and open dimension where the audience can fantasize about the space between dynamic and static elements.
