CHIU Kuo-Fong’s works are based on traditional landscape paintings and incorporate a self-created composition and brushstrokes to generate unique artistic works filled with both traditional and novel elements. Learn the Ancient Form uses a single black hue as the background to symbolize the night. Gold outlines were used to create mountains and stones to highlight the quiet, nocturnal serenity. Geometric lines and shapes applied in flat tones go beyond the conventions of ink paintings, generating a unique sense of aesthetics where tradition meets modern techniques. Poetic calligraphy written along the above margins further completes the painting.
