作品賞析
SU Huang-Sheng uses ink painting to convey the psychology of modern life. In the Woods 2 is inspired by the landscapes of Liuhuanggu (Sulfur Valley) of Beitou. The Valley used to be a sulfur mine during the Qing Dynasty that has now been replaced by artificial wells from which hot spring flows forth for residents who wish to bathe in the waters. The composition narrates the human and natural landscapes in the region and depicts a forested area next to a sulfur spring serving as a tourist attraction. The sulfur was represented using gold foil, while people, flowers, grasses, and trees were created by outlining, coloring, and glazing. SU Huang-Sheng hopes to use the work to raise awareness for the regretful sacrifice and changes to local landscapes, events, and items as a result of human intervention.
