SU Huang-Sheng is skilled in using ink painting as his creative media to create mysterious atmospheres. Garden is mainly composed of olive green and purple tones to illustrate flowers, plants, and trees in a park. Blank areas have been deliberately reserved around the objects, while the woods on the right side of the painting were portrayed in baimiao (plain drawing, uncolored outlines), generating a finish with mists flowing across the land. The surrounding areas have been darkened to offer a unique effect as though the viewer is looking through a camera lens to place him or her within the surreal and mysterious environment shown in the artwork. SU Huang-Sheng deliberately selected seemingly mundane everyday scenes in order to establish a connection with our daily lives and communicate unique settings hidden within urban environments. The purpose is to create artworks that can transfer us to the intangible and surreal worlds depicted.
