SU Huang-Sheng uses art to convey personal experiences during the rapid urbanization of the countryside. Glue-painting artworks serve as a reflection of the mental state of people living in the modern society as they go through environmental decline. Hot Spring shows a mist shrouded hot spring enjoyed by 3 individuals. The district of Beitou in Taiwan is blessed with plenty of geothermal resources. Manhole covers and drainage grills are always sending up plumes of hot spring vapors with their signature sulfurous smell. The surrounding buildings built during the Japanese Colonial Period adds to the unique atmosphere that detaches the place from Taipei City. However, upon leaving Beitou, people would return to Taipei’s urban cacophony and have to endure all the discomforts generated by the urban environment once again.
