SU Huang-Sheng uses ink painting to convey the psychology of modern life. Winds illustrates landscaping plants often seen in Taiwanese cities. Potted bonsai plants are often seen in old apartment buildings and along the sides of city streets. Sometimes, one may even see what appears to be a natural forest when in fact the vegetation is routinely pruned into semi-artificial versions of natural sculptures. The items in the composition were outlined, colored, and repeatedly glazed to create a disordered yet natural aesthetics. The work also shows a man hunched over to admire the landscaping and immerse himself within the surrounding flora. SU Huang-Sheng’s works are based on everyday experiences and represent an attempt to search for the energy existing in ordinary surroundings.
