CHIEN Fu-Chuan’s Tear is his recent creation that portrays knife-cutting, tearing, and other similar actions. Simple colors, shapes, and forms are used to provide an abstract presentation that differs from the artist’s past works. In the largely blank canvas, several trails are cut by knives, replacing the lines and strokes of painting. The random lines, minimalist colors, and montage presented on the canvas provide a simplistic yet richly-layered canvas space. CHIEN Fu-Chuan uses western media techniques to portray the philosophical conception of eastern culture, establishing an internal spiritual dialog between the virtual and the real world.
