LAI Wei-Yu often creates artworks exaggerating incidents portrayed in a fantastic style in an attempt to illustrate the various aspects of urban life. Curve is a bird’s eye view of an elevated bridge with high voltage wires and a giant, red high voltage transmission tower placed right next to a curve road to portray the packed spatial layout of the city and generating a sense of visual pressure. An accident has occurred in the midst of the chaotic horde of scooters. The man and woman involved are lying on the ground, yet no scooter rider has stopped to provide assistance. LAI Wei-Yu’s works focus on various social issues, using a relaxed and humorous style to portray the ridiculous and bizarre phenomena that exist in the real world.
