CHANG Yu-Chia’s Skin Geology 2 is a dissection of skin created on a pine panel. The cross section of the skin, from the epidermis to the subdermal tissues, sweat pores, sebaceous glands, follicles, and blood vessels, is portrayed accurately. A number of small, nude people are shown running about, clambering, keeping each other company, or making their living within the skin that they treat as their world and home. The skin is the surface tissue by which we interact with the outside world. The tissue also conveys physical sensations we receive. CHANG Yu-Chia uses a surreal and humorous artistic vocabulary as well as personal experiences as the basis to convey a state that cannot be described with words.
