作品賞析
LEE Yen-Jen transforms landscapes from daily encounters to panel painting sceneries to project personal emotions and imaginations. Divide is based upon sights observed during a trip to Yeliu, and depicts natural rocky ground surfaces provided with a red, demarcating line. Artificial intervention in this natural scenery generates a bizarre yet despondent sensation. LEE Yen-Jen uses the unique properties of etchings to create an isolated and empty background that further accentuates the rocky surface textures. The girl is shown as an ephemeral being, hinting at feelings of uncertainty and disturbance. The dividing line on the ground also serves as an analogy of the complicated task of classifying individuals. LEE Yen-Jen uses this work to extend beyond her focus on the natural world and reflect upon emotions and relationships.
