TANG Jo-Hun’s works often feature a chaotic setting with different cultural symbols and languages. Queen depicts bright red tones that cover the entire composition. Intuitive brush strokes create an outline of crown-like shape or a queen with both hands grasping around power. The painting provides an unreserved depiction of a queen’s authority, while the signature brush strokes depict the artist’s state of being at the moment of creation. When engaging in the creative process, TANG Jo-Hun attempts to return to the primal state of mind, and uses an intuitive measure to identify the beast within. Personal experience is used as artistic elements in the work, which are then fragmented and re-assembled to redefine and liberate fantasy and reality.
