HO Mu-Tien’s artworks are often based upon ordinary domestic settings and focus primarily on the relationship between people and their spaces. Homes #16 is a photograph of a living room of an ordinary British residence taken from a voyeur’s perspective. The image shows an ordinary household engaged in routine activities. Reflections on the window pane prevent the viewer from seeing the exact details of the ongoing events within the house. The window serves as the boundary between private and public spaces, serving as an opening to different countries and lifestyles. HO Mu-Tien has taken an outsider’s perspective and created a photographic composition of everyday life while featuring a unique perspective and a sense of isolation in experienced while living in a foreign country.
