OU Jing-Yun’s paintings are fairytale-like fantasies characterized by bright colors and meticulous brushwork. Narcissus on the Coastline shows a room with a unique spatial dimension inhabited by a beautiful nymph lying lazily on a sofa as though she has just returned from a trip, while her personal belongings are scattered all over the place. The floor of her room is composed of waves lapping a sandy beach. The open window reveals an Islamic palace that seems to be the place that she visits every so often. OU Jing-Yun uses multiple perspectives to weave fragmented tales into a single story, creating a surreal assemblage filled with various desires and emotions.
