HSU Chiao-Yen uses linear sketches and assemblage of different canvases to represent sights outside the window during his travels. Room 503 presents 2 canvases that used black lines to illustrate temporary construction on the street, such as corrugated building materials and roofs. The blank and untouched areas, on the other hand, represented the street, skies, and fixed constructions, providing an area that allows viewers to include various aspects of their imaginations. The canvas is dissected into different shapes and then reassembled similar to the unauthorized construction projects stacked upon each other. The artist employed simple lines to present the residual trails of living areas and project his emotional ties with the local environment.
