In ZENG Lin Yuan’s Swing Ride, we could see three images of similar shapes and colors that are overlapped and mixed with each other that seemd to form after-images of swinging rides. Futurism of the 20th century was employed where images of moving objects are illustrated to portray a dynamic appearance of objects revolving at high speeds. Closer observations show naturally dripping acrylic paint and the use of large quantities of white paint that introduce a refreshing and lively dynamism to the composition. To ZENG Lin-Yuan, memories would change across time, overlapping or changing with newer memories or gradually fading away. This artwork shows that static images can be replaced with more brilliant and wonderful times.
