The Happening Past

In ZENG Lin-Yuan’s The Happening Past, one can make out the outlines of tents, train cars, and ribbons where similar shapes are assembled using different colors and illustration techniques, overlapping each other to generate a unique composition. The style of Futurism from the 20th century was utilized in the composition. Images of moving objects are illustrated to dynamically portray objects moving at high speeds. Closer observations reveal naturally dripping acrylic paint that generate an alternative imagery that is both soft and lively. To ZENG Lin-Yuan, memories would change across time, overlapping or changing with newer memories or gradually fading away. This artwork shows that static images can be replaced with more brilliant and wonderful times.
