KE Wei-Kuo enjoys observing scenes of life and nature, and believes that nature is a canvas of our emotional landscape. In Water Light, KE Wei-Kuo made use of pale ink and tiny spots to depict a scenery of rain puddles after a heavy torrent, highlighted by intercrossing water and light. Spots of different shades have been created using a novel brushstroke technique of water-based inks pioneered by KE Wei-Kuo, and build upon the contours and expressions of flowing rainwater, light, and shadow. KE Wei-Kuo uses water and light as a means of reflecting upon the external world to transform the broken landscape into an enigmatic prose on canvas. By guiding viewers along the merging contours of water and light, KE Wei-Kuo offers them a glimpse of the true nature of primal life.
