作品賞析
LEE Yeh-Lin once used sound as his creative media, but has recently taken up the camera to portray documentary shots of human landscapes that he had focused on. LEE Yeh-Lin uses the technique of candid photographs with streetscapes exclusive to Taiwan as the setting to generate a series of works. Nan De Hu Tu (Being Stupid Once in a While) shows an old monk sitting with his legs crossed in a small eatery. The walls are covered with various religious totems and slogans which contrast against the monk’s serenity and natural posture. LEE Yeh-Lin has used this documentary shot to capture Taiwan’s diverse and syncretic culture, using this everyday street scene as a means of self-reflection and contemplation.
