Artist SU Chung-Ming has studied ink painting for years. His creation is inspired by his absorption and rumination of tradition. He takes ink as the main material and colors as the supplement. Based on traditional ink painting techniques, he creates his unique aura of ink. In his work After Storm, he takes ink as the main color and depicts the landscape where there are crowded bamboo forests and hovering mist through detailed strokes. This work does not emphasize the gradation of colors but present the image with ink. The landscape is created through the observation on nature for expressing the mental emotions and concepts. SU Chung-Ming’s ink paintings do not emphasize the representation of natural landscapes but focus on a free spiritual imagination. He insists on the representation of subjective emotions. His paintings are elegant and sincere, giving audiences the on-the-site experiences different from traditional ink paintings.
