TSAI Yi-Chieh takes everyday scenes from modern life and applies a painting technique that imitates a digital composition, creating fictitious landscapes that incorporate an interface between the real and the artificial. In Outdoor Pool in a LOHAS Community, the picture is partitioned into two sections. One section is a manicured artificial lawn and a manmade pool with lounge chair beside it, while the other section shows a natural green mountain range and a winding river. The artist carefully presents the contrasting relationship between natural and artificial objects in this painting, showing how we try to recreate nature after destroying it, as well as the conflicting relationship between the two.
