In My Most Loved Song…For You, artist HSU Meng-Han sketches the outlines of two figures in white shirts. Nine butterflies are placed arbitrarily onto the image, their wings, alive with color, contrasting sharply with the pale figures. The headless figures, comprising only arms and torso, when contrasted with the fully formed butterflies, present two distinctly different patterns of life. By juxtaposing these complete and incomplete entities, the artist conveys her thoughts and feelings about the topic of death, from fear and resistance to an acceptance of the perceptions and imperfections of life; it is an awareness of the poetry and solitude of the final moments of life.
