JHENG Fu-Chen tried to liberate himself from the forms and techniques of traditional Chinese Literati painting and turned his attention to Taiwan in search of new media and a new artistic language. In Spring Dawn, Jheng depicts layers of mountains, terraces, and houses with neat lines and abstract structure and form. Using a color wash technique, he brings out the luster and glow of an early spring morning. Jheng feels that the landscape is an expansion of the individual life form. By means of simple designs he communicates his own respect and praise for the existence of natural life.
