Yang Yi-Shiang’s “The Perfection Prototype” series features realistic painting techniques, focusing on the often overseen objects in corners. Through in depth observation resulted from detailed depiction, Yang gives the objects and the places deeper meanings. In this work, “The Perfection Prototype 120604”, she not only precisely and delicately depicts the tiled concrete sink, pot plants, and flowerbed, but also uses heavily the techniques of blank-leaving and smearing to create the atmosphere of the scene. For example, the texture of the wall and the bold ink smudge allow the work to showcase multiple layers of emotions.
