Yang Yi-Shiang’s “The Perfection Archetype ” series features realistic painting techniques, focusing on the often overseen objects in corners. Through in depth observation resulted from detailed depiction, Yang gives the objects and the places deeper meanings. In this painting, “The Perfection Archetype 120124”, the artist not only intricately depicts the wooden table and chair and the bamboo brooms, she also greatly utilizes the techniques of blank-leaving and smearing to create the atmosphere of the scene. For example, the mottled shadows on the ground, the texture of the wall, and the outline of composition done in pencil left behind, have all allowed the work to display a rich fluidness of time and space.
