Yang Yi-Shiang’s “The Perfection Archetype” series features realistic painting techniques, focusing on the often overseen objects in corners. Through in depth observation resulted from detailed depiction, Yang gives the objects and the places deeper meanings. In this work, “The Perfection Archetype 120131”, Yang not only precisely and delicately depicts the hung clothes from a peeping angle, but also uses lots of black and white, and techniques of mottling and penetration to create the atmosphere of the scene, such as the mottled shadows on the ground and the texture of the wall. These techniques with the effect to penetrate space allow the work to showcase a rich fluidness of time and space. Sceneries like this are the archetype of perfection deeply hidden in the artist’s subconscious.
