The symbolism in artist CHEN Kuan-Hsun’s piece Blend is composed of fertility symbols and human body forms, hinting at the merging of opposites in the natural world. The artist believes that one day, if the Earth’s natural environment continues to deteriorate, organisms may evolve into bizarre compound forms in order to survive. Blend is Chen’s reinterpretation of living organisms: organic life wriggling upward gives the piece a sense of motion, expressing the uninterrupted struggle and progression of life in the universe.
