Artwork Appreciation
LIN Wang-Tin is skilled in video artworks, with recent works focusing on the relationship between people and space as well as cities and memories. SimCity conveys how cities and various urban buildings, structures that people erected to serve as their homes, have changed the world’s appearance. LIN Wang-Ting reduced the sizes of the models to recreate urban areas while placing images of actual urban landscapes within the composition. The image shows oft-repeated miniature advertisements as well as heavy traffic traveling along the roads, creating a miniaturized urban landscape that includes both actual and virtual elements. Such compositions happen to reflect modern living quarters and lifestyles. We are living in a real world, but we may in fact be indulging in our own constructed fantasies.
