作品賞析
Inspired by the art historian Wu Hung, artist Yen Yu-Ting separated the meanings of the English word “screen” into “folding screen” and “electric screen” to serve as a comparison. She captured various news messages in forms such as computer screenshots, created paintings, and developed her “Screenshot” series, of which this is the fourth work. At the bottom of the painting, people are pulling on a rope and wrestling with each other. This concept comes from the offensive and defensive battles between legislators from different parties in the Legislative Yuan over bills. On the right, there are also women and dogs that appear repeatedly in different sizes, showing a state of mental confusion. Although Yen Yu-Ting captures everyday news footage, she does not focus on a single event. Instead, she categorizes and organizes the collected images and texts, then extracts certain elements and rearranges them through composition, color, and her own ink and wash techniques, attempting to preserve the restless and anxious state of people in Taiwanese society in an era of information explosion.
