With Chopsticks

Huang Wei-Min, an artist from Puli, Nantou County, frequently travels along National Highway 6. She combined the mountain scenery she encounters with food and tableware to create her work With Chopsticks. She transforms the highway and bridges into chopsticks, while the green food held between them represents a fusion of forest and a sandwich. The monochromatic background and centrally placed subject create an illusion of the viewer examining the food before bringing it to their mouths in preparation of eating it. Huang Wei-Min creatively reverses the imagery of the vastness of nature and the insignificance of humanity, presenting her works on placemat-sized canvases, making each piece a delicacy. Through this reversal of imagery, she hopes to provoke viewers to reconsider the relationship between humanity and the natural environment.
