Artist Huang Wei-Min combines natural and artificial elements with everyday foods, presenting them on placemat-sized canvases, making each piece resemble to a delicious meal. In her work Bag Sandwich, she features a food that has become increasingly popular and offers a sense of comfort. The wrapper surrounding the filling, evokes the sense of security people feel when inside a building. However, when the food is cut open and the filling spills out, it evokes a paradoxical feeling of fragility and insecurity, like a collapsing building. Using a very fine brush, the artist creates delicate strokes, repeatedly layering and overlapping them to create a fuzzy texture for the wrapper and filling. The earthy tones and fuzzy brushstrokes create a warm atmosphere. Huang Wei-Min uses gentle hues and creative while being slightly jarring, imagery to explore the relationship between humanity and nature.
