The work 15-degree setting sun is a metal sculpture created by artist Chen Chao-Tung based on his thinking about the relationship between light and objects. Pure light cannot be seen. It must be reflected through a medium or on the surface of an object to be seen. In life, we can see light shining in from the window because there is dust or floating particles in the air. Chen imagined the appearance of a beam of light projected through a window into the house. He fixed smooth diamond-shaped metallic prisms on a mirror to simulate the state of light, and created a sense of space by changing the height and size of the prisms. Whenever light enters a different kind of space, it refracts and changes direction. When light shines on this work in its display space, the mirror at the base will reflect new light, making the whole work seem to shine with its own light. By simulation of the forms of light beams, the artist expresses the multiple levels of light, space, and vision.
