Perfectly Strange #14, Rainbow on the Medicine Jar is a visual installation work by artist Lin Kun- Ying that combines painting and projection. The inspiration came from his own physical and mental struggle when he was infected with COVID. Lying in bed and coughing constantly was painful, but it also gave him some time to rest. He took this time, when his body was in pain but his mind was at peace, and transformed it into new work. The image is a view from one corner of his bedroom. He deliberately simplified the space, leaving only the bed and the medicine jar. He uses projection to show changes in light and shadow from day to night. The medicine jar also changes from its original monochrome and takes on a colorful and dazzling appearance, becoming like a constantly rotating neon ball that becomes the focus of the space. The colorful medicine jar not only expresses the mixed pain and dizziness of being sick, but also reveals, that at this moment, the world becomes quiet and the body becomes the noisy protagonist, impossible to ignore.
