Artist Muran’s prints always reflect his daily life, as well as his deep understanding and persistence in painterliness and color matching. This reductive cutting print, Wizard House, is full of detail, with many plants, animals, collectibles, and even traces of woodcut. The bluish-purple blob on the left side of the picture could be water sprayed from a shower head, smoke rising from burning shell ginger leaves below, or an abstract sculpture—the viewer can interpret it freely. Muran does not deliberately pursue realism when creating, but focuses more on the “painting” itself. The colorful floor is a special color experiment that he conducted: all the colors used in the work were painted on the floor in order to test the coordination of colors. With each cut of the chisel, Muran puts his aspirations and interest into his work and shows his contentment with life.
