作品賞析
The artist Tsai Yi-Ju feels that what he remembers most about his childhood were the cartoons, so he blends the cartoon characters that accompanied him the most when he was a child into his canvases, and he reinterprets them through various painting techniques, not only with respect to color and texture, but also through brushstrokes and structural dislocation. In Joyful Blessings, he disassembled and reorganized the images of characters like Doraemon and Pluto, and he connected Doraemon’s head with a human body in traditional Chinese costume. Elsewhere, he added the stickers commonly seen in current 3C communication software. One sees common hand gestures, and the “finger-heart” gesture often seen in today’s group photos. All of these elements are cleverly and harmoniously intertwined to create a picture that makes people smile. He seems to have written a humorous time-travel story spanning ancient and modern times. At the same time, it also implies that the human mind often displaces people and things as it weaves them together to form seemingly complete memories.
