作品賞析
This work, Back Garden No. 13—A Rich Ideal No. 1, is actually a mother-and-child work. The artist, Hua Chien-Chiang, used paint left over from the “mother” to create another smaller abstract. In comparison with the rationally thought-out parent work, the smaller one reflects his unrestrained emotional side. Hua in the end used a “white line of reason,” symbolizing the connection between rationality and sensibility, to connect the two works. In the “mother” work, Hua uses the image of a centaur descending from the sky to symbolize a fertile imagination or rich ideal. Curly vines spread from the mythical beast’s tail and wrap around the utility poles necessary for people’s livelihoods. The utility poles are metaphor for hidden worry, a symbol of contradiction, a satire on the cruel difference between reality and ideals. The geometric forms floating here and there, meanwhile, represent sharp sounds creating a dynamic effect.
