作品賞析
In Chang Feng Ming’s Imagery Landscape, different perspective methods from the East and the West are integrated to display a rich expression of landscape space. In the upper part of the work, the “three distances” perspective used in Oriental painting, with its “level view,” “downward view,” and “upward view,” are used to depict the scenery and present an image of tranquility and emptiness. In the lower part, the Western “single-point” perspective shows a group of Taihu rocks in the foreground, while a kind of folding screen extends across the background; part of it seems cut into the shape of flat mountains. There is a strong sense of depth among the rocks and the screen behind them, but the mountains in the screen are flat, creating an interesting contrast. The rocks also seem to be partly human—their bodies are curled, backs slightly curved, and they bulge with muscles. This is part of the artist’s unique “stone man” motif. By exploring how to combine the perspectives of East and West in various ways, Chang Feng Ming develops new and original expressions of space.
