The artist Niu Jun-Qing is very good at using the characteristics of various visual media to create delicate feelings and open up discussion on themes such as relationships, faith, and life, based on his own life experiences. In Untitled-6, a photographic work, Niu uses light to visually express palpability and abstract feelings that express “the feeling of the presence of God,” with “God” not the kind found in a specific belief, but rather the invisible connection between people and the immaterial world. Niu folds tracing paper and covers various things with it in order to create abstract, curved forms. Under sunlight, the translucent tracing paper appears as if it is washed in gentle, pure colors. Soft shadows present a tranquil, mysterious mood. Niu Jun-Qiang uses light and materials to create a sense of sacred beauty and explore the essence and meaning of divinity.
