KAO I-Sheng is good at painting with ink brushwork. He depicts and reflects on the delicate patterns of the interdependent relationship between people and the natural environment. In Domesticators, a humped, shirtless young man stands in the dark, staring blankly forward. At the back of his head is a daring tarsier with a funny Japanese mask on its head. The eyes of the young man and the white tarsier create a strange atmosphere that interchanges the subject. Through detailed lines and layered techniques, the work appears realistic and meaningful. The young man seems to be unconsciously manipulated by the tarsier as if many people are restricted by pets and work around them. It may be a mutual relationship between domesticating and being domesticated.
